Cienfuegos – Casilda
After Embarkation and a welcome meeting, we have an optional walking tour, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at sea to Casilda
Casilda – Isla de la Juventud
This morning there is an optional tour to Cienfuegos and Trinidad. We drive to Cienfuegos to visit this city which was founded by French settlers , and today is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Mid morning we travel to Trinidad , which is sometimes referred to as the Museum City of Cuba, and is a well preserved Spanish colonial city.Visit to the Romantic Museum and the woodcarving studio of Lasaro. Dinner on board. Overnight at sea sailing to Isla de la Juventud – the Island of Youth.
Day at sea – Isla de la Juventud
All day sailing. By late afternoon we will reach the Isle de la Juventud, where we will anchor in the bay of Singuanea. Overnight at anchor.
Isla de la Juventud – Maria la Gorda
In the morning we will have an optional excursion to Nueva Gerona, the Universidad de la Isla de la Juventud Jesus Montane Oropesa and the Presidio Modelo. Stop for lunch in Nuevo Gerona, before returning to the beach at the Colony Hotel for an afternoon of leisure. Dinner on board. Overnight at sea to Maria la Gorda.
Maria la Gorda – Vinales Valley
In the morning we will arrive at Maria la Gorda. There will be a one day land tour ending in Havana. We will visit a tobacco farm and learn about the production of the world famous Cuban cigars. After lunch at an organic restaurant, we will visit an organic farm to hear about how the climate and fertile soil have contributed to the success of organic farming in the region. Overnight in hotel.
Vinales Valley – Havana
In the morning we will reach Havana by coach, where we will re-join our ship. Morning optional walking exploration of Old Havana which was founded in 1519 by the Spanish. Now numbering a population of 2 million, Havana is a mixture of beautiful old baroque and neo-classical monuments, arcades and private balconies. We stop at Fusterlandia, studio of artist Jose Rodriguez Fuster, and also the Merger Art Studio, where we can view some magnificent sculptures. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with live Cuban music at the Cafe Taberna, or similar, with salsa music in the style of the Buena Vista Social Club, before returning to the ship. Overnight on board.
Optional city tour to the University of Havana, followed by a visit to Finca Vigia, which was the beloved home of Ernest Hemmingway. We stop for lunch at another paladar before continuing on to a very nostalgic car garage to view how the Cubans manage to creatively keep those old cars in such fine working order. After a short drive back to Havana, we will have an exciting performance from the Havana Compass Dance Troupe. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board. Overnight on board.

The Yacht - M/Y Callisto
The elegant Motor Yacht Callisto recently joined the VARIETY CRUISES fleet and is true to her name: Elegant, classic. She was fully refit / rebuilt in 2000 and was thoroughly renovated in in 2015-16.
This classy Motor Yacht has performed several Atlantic Ocean crossings, and has also sailed along the most interesting coastal sites of Europe, North and West Africa. The M/Y Callisto is of the “boutique” category of cruiser, and offers the highest standard of accommodation, comfort and safety.
The yacht’s public areas are cozy and generous, decorated with rich fabrics, handsome woodwork, gleaming brass, antiques and fine works of art. During the day, life on board centres around the indoor and outdoor areas including the Upper deck Indoor and Outdoor lounge/bar and dining areas as well as the cosy Library located on the Sun Deck.
