The Yacht Cruise Experience
Flamenco Marina Panama City / Panama Canal Crossing
After joining the ship in late afternoon, we cross Miraflores and Pedro Miguel locks and enter the Gatun Lake.
Gatun Lake – Panama Canal Crossing – Panama City
Gatun Lake exploration. Morning Optional excursion by special arrangement to the Smithsonian’s Institute facility on Barro Colorado Island. Late in the evening we once again exit the Gatun Lake at the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks.
Flamenco Marina Panama City – Punta Patino
Morning excursion in Panama City and Canal – Afternoon at leisure – Overnight at sea to Punta Patino – Darrien
Punta Patino – Granito de Oro Island
Morning arrival at Punta Patino. Optional excursion to Punta Patino in the Darrien National park and to the Mogue Embera Reserve. We sail upstream the Mogue river in dugout canoes and reach the Village of Mogue after passing through a mangroves ecosystem. We are welcomed by Embera Indians, one of the 7 indigenous groups living in Panama. They are proud and very friendly and known for their beautiful handicrafts and well preserved traditions. We will be invited to share their lunch and dance with them. In the afternoon we sail towards Granito de Oro Island, Panama. Overnight at sea.
Granito de Oro Island
After a day at sea we reach Coiba and anchor near tiny Granito de Oro island. We will have time for late afternoon snorkeling and swimming on the island. Overnight at anchor
Granito de Oro Island – Coiba Island – Golfo Dulce
Short sailing in the morning from Granito de Oro to nearby Coiba Island. Morning hill hike in the Reserve and time swimming and snorkeling. After the beach BBQ, we have more time for swimming in the afternoon before sailing away to Golfo Dulce- Overnight at sea.
Golfo Dulce – Puerto Jimenez – Quepos
We reach Golfito in the early morning for immigration procedures before continuing our sailing to reach Casa Orquideas and tender to this beautiful flowers sanctuary. Visit of extensive and very well kept grounds. Time to swim at the end of the visit. We then sail across the Bay to Puerto Jimenez while having a BBQ on deck. We reach Puerto Jimenez early in the afternoon. Optional OSA PENINSULA excursion. The park is part of one of the biological corridors leading to the Corcovado National Park and offers the opportunity for a smooth walk in secondary forest and interaction with endemic animal life. Overnight at sea to Quepos
Quepos – Playa Biesanz – Curu
Transfer to the MANUEL ANTONIO RESERVE for an optional morning excursion in this beautiful world famous Nature Reserve. In the afternoon passengers can take an optional excursion to Savegre River or a Forest Canopy Tour. Afternoon sailing to nearby Playa Bisanz for an afternoon swim. (Savegre River or Forest Canopy tour excursion participants rejoin the ship in Playa Biesanz). Tropical evening with dinner and party. Late evening sailing to Curu.
Curu – Tortuga Island
Morning Optional walking excursion in the Curu Nature Reserve with the local Rangers and our on board naturalist. Late morning we rejoin the vessel for a short sailing to Tortuga Island. We arrive in Tortuga Island at noon for swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of this paradise island before joining in for our beach BBQ. Later on we have more time to enjoy this amazing island. Overnight at anchor.
Tortuga Island – Puntarenas Port
Morning sailing to Puntarenas Port Costa Rica. Arrival in Puntarenas Port 08:00- Disembarkation 09:00 to 10:00.
The Pacific coast around Guanacaste, on the other hand is hot and dry, perfect for the many world-class beaches. Costa Rica itself has an average temperature of 70 Fto 81 F. Due to its proximity to the equator, it has no real summer or winter. It does however have a rainy season from May to November.
The Yacht - M/Y Callisto
The elegant Motor Yacht Callisto recently joined the VARIETY CRUISES fleet and is true to her name: Elegant, classic. She was fully refit / rebuilt in 2000 and was thoroughly renovated in in 2015-16. This classy Motor Yacht has performed several Atlantic Ocean crossings, and has also sailed along the most interesting coastal sites of Europe, North and West Africa. The M/Y Callisto is of the “boutique” category of cruiser, and offers the highest standard of accommodation, comfort and safety.
The yacht’s public areas are cozy and generous, decorated with rich fabrics, handsome woodwork, gleaming brass, antiques and fine works of art.
