trade winds cruise club Bequia – Itinerary

Departing every week throughout the year

SAMPLE BEQUIA ITINERARY
Day 1 UK to Bequia. Your catamaran will be moored at Bequia Marina, Port Elizabeth, in beautiful Admiralty Bay on the island of Bequia. This is one of the favorite yachting ports of the Caribbean. Upon arrival at our office in the Marina, you will be greeted by our Operations Manager who will go through the check-in procedure with you. Then you’ll be introduced to your crew, your fellow sailors and your TradeWinds yacht whilst you enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail. After being shown to your cabin and your new home for the week, take a little time to settle in. Enjoy a delicious dinner aboard, your yacht remains in the harbour for the evening to allow you to acclimatize. You can have either a relaxing time onboard or show yourself the charms of Port Elizabeth with its quaint restaurants and bars.
Day 2 Set sail for the island of Mustique, a unique privately owned island developed for the rich and famous. If you want to participate in the handling of the yacht and sails, you can do so but, if you prefer, just lie back and relax. It is all up to you. When you arrive in Britannia Bay, jump in to the crystal clear waters for some reef exploration before lunch is served. After lunch, a trip around the island by rented golf cart or horseback riding is highly recommended.
Day 3 Following a scrumptious breakfast, we sail downwind past the beautiful windward side of Canouan to the Tobago Cays; arguably the most beautiful area of the Caribbean. The sheer beauty of this place will make you never want to leave. The whole island group is a Marine National Park, and is completely protected by World's End reef and Horseshoe reef. Some of the most exciting diving and snorkeling ever can be experienced here. You will spend the whole day in the Cays with excursions to several different ones, ending with another wonderful sunset followed by a dinner onboard.
Day 4 Early in the morning, we set sail to Saltwhistle Bay on the neighboring island of Mayreau. This picture perfect beach and palm tree fringed bay is the favorite for many of our repeat guests. For the novice, SCUBA trial dives can be arranged here through the local dive operator. After lunch, we sail to Clifton Harbor on Union Island where we go stern-to on the docks of the Yacht Club. Sunset drinks are being prepared onboard while you get ready for an evening ashore at one of the nearby restaurants.
Day 5 After breakfast we make ready and head off around the southern tip of Union Island to its beautiful west coast. We will anchor in Chatham Bay and here you can walk on the beach or go for a snorkel or a dive. Depending on time and the weather we may visit the luxurious private islands of Petit St Vincent or Palm Island on our way to Chatham Bay. Here you can enjoy a cool drink on the beachfront, swim in the clear blue water or just relax and take in the spectacular views. Later in the day we will have sunset cocktails on the boat and dinner is served on board.
Day 6 Having finished your breakfast and a morning swim, we set sail for the beautiful Saline Bay on Mayreau. Here you will find underwater caves with myriads of reef fish and we often see electric rays in the deep on the sand bottom. The wreck of the 1st world war gun ship "Purina" lies upright in only 40 feet of water, so here you can enjoy further great diving. The late afternoon, will see us setting sail up to the island of Canouan, and we’ll anchor for the evening in one of the secluded bays. Dinner is served onboard, often fresh fish that we have caught earlier in the day.
Day 7 While you are still asleep in your cabin, we may move off to the very northern end of the island to a gorgeous small bay. Breakfast is served here, and we set out for some great snorkeling before we start our sail back to Bequia to arrive in Admiralty Bay around lunchtime. In the afternoon you can go ashore exploring Bequia, visit the turtle sanctuary or the fascinating architectural project "Moonhole" by West Cay, Alternatively, we will arrange for some more diving opportunities for the dedicated divers. As it is the last evening of the cruise, guests dine ashore at one of the many restaurants in Bequia.
Day 8 After breakfast onboard, it is time to gather your belongings and memories. Your crew will arrange transport back to the airport before exchanging fond farewells. You will already be planning your next cruise...
