Thailand River Kwai Cruise – Introduction

Thailand River Cruise

The RV River Kwai is the first inland cruise ship in Thailand. It is a river cruiser built in a colonial style. The design of the ship was based on the designs of the vessels that were part of the original Irrawaddy Flotilla. The Irrawaddy Flotilla was a very successful privately owned fleet that was founded in 1865 in Burma. By the 1920s it had become the largest privately owned fleet worldwide.

The RV River Kwai can accommodate a maximum of 20 passengers in 10 teakwood cabins and offers its passengers a chance to enjoy intimate cruising whilst viewing a part of Thailand that is rarely seen.

The RV River Kwai provides its passengers with a spectacular new way of experiencing the province of Kanchanaburi, which lies to the west of Bangkok. Every morning and afternoon land excursions are offered to visit attractions that sit along the river. Passengers will be able to visit a number of places, including: sites of historical importance (temples, Khmer ruins, war cemeteries, etc) sites of natural beauty (waterfalls, hot springs, the bridge on the River Kwai, etc) and other local attractions.

In Southern Thailand (from Bangkok and below) the seasons are slightly more complex. The East coast and West coast wet and dry seasons do not fall at the same time.
