SOUTHERN DALMATIAN SAMPLE CRUISE ITINERARY

SUN

Dubrovnik -Boarding commences at 13.00 though as we stay in Dubrovnik for our first night, later arrivals can be accommodated. Whenever you arrive, there’s plenty to see and do in Dubrovnik, a town described as “the Pearl of the Adriatic”. Once you’ve wandered amongst the many Gothic and Renaissance churches, palaces and fortifications there are numerous museums to choose from, or take a break in one of the many cafes on the main street, Placa. For the less energetic, relax on one the nearby beaches. As the afternoon cools, explore the city walls and plan what to do your last night on the cruise when we return to this wonderful city

MON

Dubrovnik – Korcula – During breakfast we depart for Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lunch on board in front of Lumbarda, a small village on the south end of the Island of Korcula. We arrive at Korcula in the afternoon where everyone is free to do their own sightseeing, and where we will stay spend the night in harbour. On this island you can find more legends, tales and monuments than anywhere else. Listen to the story of the stone walls, which were being built over two centuries ago.

TUE

Korcula – Hvar – Early in the morning we depart towards the little Island of Scedro where we will have time to relax and refresh in the clean, crystal blue sea. After lunch we sail for Hvar, the longest island in the Adriatic and the location of the oldest community Theatre in Europe, founded in 1612. In addition to the Theatre, you can also visit St Stephen’s Cathedral, and the fortress Fortica. The city of Hvar also offers abundant entertainment and for those that like to party, its restaurants, bars and cafes are open long into the night.

WED

Hvar – Trstenik – We have to leave Hvar and continue our cruise towards the little town of Trstenik on the Peljesac peninsula, where we will swim in the afternoon and spend the night. Trstenik is a small village at the edge of a deep bay, and was originally an important port for the export of grapes from the vineyards in the hinterlands, to Italy. Chief occupations today include farming, viniculture (the famous Dingač wine), fishing and tourism. The coastline along the town and the neighbouring inlets is covered with groves of pine, offering a fine ambience for swimming. The famous Grgic winery is situated here – have a walk and taste some of their lovely wine!

THU

Trstenik – Mljet - We continue our journey after breakfast towards the Island of Mljet. The whole afternoon is free to look at the salt lakes in Mljet National Park and enjoy the sun and sea on this peaceful island. In the centre of the large lake, inside the National park, we can visit an old abbey and church, or hire a small boat or bikes to roam around. We spend the night in the traditional fishing villages of Pomena or Polace, where you can see the ruins of the 5th century palace.

FRI

Mljet – Sipan – This morning we continue our trip towards the Elafiti Islands. The biggest is Sipan, and the group also includes Lopud and Kolocep (Kalamota), popular for their beautiful scenery and sandy beaches. We stop for lunch and a swim at one of the smaller Elafiti Islands, before heading for our overnight destination, Sipan. Although the biggest of the Elafiti Islands, it’s only around 16 km2, and with the day trippers from Dubrovnilk departed, you’ll see it at its best.

SAT

Sipan – Dubrovnik – We leave for Dubrovnik with breakfast en route. Enjoy the beautiful sights of nature along the way towards “the heaven on earth” – according to the famous writer George Bernard Shaw. We will arrive to Dubrovnik early in the morning and have a whole day free to explore Dubrovnik, go for a swim or simply join an optional bus excursion to Montenegro. You can explore Dubrovnik on your own or there’s the option of joining our guided tour with an English speaking guide. For those of you with more enthusiasm we recommend a walk on top of the 1940 m long city walls!

SUN

Dubrovnik -Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the airport for your return flight or to your hotel if you’re extending your stay.
