Istria & Northern Isles Cruise (KL1) – Introduction

Istria& Northern Isles Vessel

Istria & The Northern Isles

The area of Istria and the islands of the Kvarner Bay is quite different to other parts of Croatia further south, with evidence everywhere of it’s not so distant imperial past as the coastal playground of the aristocracy of the Austro Hungarian Empire.

This merges with earlier influences from the Venetians who dominated the area during the middle ages and the Romans before them. The result is a fascinating fusion of European cultures, splendid old villas and mansions, imposing churches and roman ruins. In the islands vary from remote and peaceful, to lively and cosmopolitan.

Sailing from the splendid historic resort of Opatija, our cruise explores the islands of Krk, Rab, Cres, Olib or Molat and Losinj. Mid-way through this island hopping adventure, we visit the beautiful walled city of Zadar, with its rich history and notable monuments and churches, plus a chic and atmospheric harbour.
